Wer schreibt?
Kellner in Spanien.
Who writes?
I was born on May 24th in Hanover and grew up in Oldenburg, Germany. Two years before my final year at school, I went to live in the US attending Hudson High School in Wisconsin. The time abroad as well as later returns to the United States have certainly contributed to my tight bond with the English language.
After finishing school with the German Abitur in 1997, the main subjects being German and English, I went to live in Spain to work as a gardener and bartender for two summers. Due to the fact that my aunt is from Spain, I had already had a close connection to that country before, which, over the years, has become something that you could call a love relationship.
For these and other reasons, I commenced my studies of the Spanish and English language and literature at the Ruhr-University in Bochum in 2001, getting my final degree (2. Staatsexamen) in 2009.
Since I have never had strict personal preferences regarding a particular literary focus, I am open for any literary genre, time, origin and text type, and although my final thesis is entitled The reception of Cervantes‘ Don Quijote in the works of Henry Fielding, I also focused much on the interpretation and analysis of poetry during my studies.
From 2003 until 2004 I moved to Palma de Mallorca to teach English and German at the two schools Joan María Tomás and Ramón Llull for one year. In 2007 I started to work as a Spanish and English teacher at the Willy-Brandt-Gesamtschule in Bochum and since 2009 I have been teaching these subjects at the Lessing-Gymnasium in Bochum.
